What ink does my Epson printer use?
Epson printers use one of two kinds of ink. EcoTank printers (most model numbers start with "ET-") have refillable tanks and use ink bottles. For example, the ET-2850 and ET-4850 use Epson 502 bottles, and the ET-4800 uses Epson 522 bottles. Most Expression and WorkForce printers use ink cartridges. For example, the Expression Home XP-4205 uses Epson 232 cartridges, and the WorkForce Pro WF-4820 uses Epson 822 cartridges. The easiest way to find your ink is to look up your printer model below, or check the number printed on your current cartridge or bottle.

EcoTank bottles vs. ink cartridges
EcoTank printers cost more up front but are designed for low-cost printing over time. Instead of replacing cartridges, you refill each color tank from a bottle, and one set of bottles lasts thousands of pages. Cartridge printers cost less to buy and suit lighter printing, but you'll replace cartridges more often.
EcoTank bottle numbers are not interchangeable. A printer that uses 502 bottles needs 502 bottles, not 522. Always match the bottle number to your printer model, and fill each tank with its matching color.

How to find your Epson ink number
Epson ink is identified by a number, such as 232, 502, 522 or 822. You'll find it on the label of your current cartridge or bottle, in your printer's user guide, or by looking up your printer model on this page. Many Epson cartridges also come in a high-capacity "XL" version that prints more pages per cartridge. Our Epson ink bottles are compatible (newly made), and our Epson cartridges are remanufactured (original Epson cartridges that are cleaned, refilled and tested).
Frequently asked questions
Will compatible or remanufactured ink work in my Epson printer?
Yes. Our Epson ink is tested for the printer models listed on each product page and is covered by our 180-day warranty. If you have any trouble, our support team will help you fix it or replace it.
Will using non-Epson ink void my printer warranty?
Generally no. In the U.S., the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prevents manufacturers from voiding a warranty simply because you used another brand of ink. Damage caused directly by the ink or cartridge may not be covered by the printer maker.
My Epson printer won't recognize a new cartridge. What should I do?
Remove the cartridge, make sure all protective tape is off, and reinstall it until it clicks into place. Confirm the cartridge number matches your printer model. If the problem continues, call us at 818-534-2660 (Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm Pacific).
Does Epson make laser printers?
Epson focuses on inkjet printers, including its EcoTank, Expression and WorkForce lines. All of the Epson supplies we sell are ink cartridges and ink bottles.
